To be able to detect and control potato cyst nematodes you need to take soil samples. HLB has developed its own intensive PCN survey method (known as AMI, the Dutch acronym for intensive PCN), using quad bikes to take samples from a large area. The samples are scrutinised for the presence and quantities of living larvae and eggs in our quarantine lab. If we discover potato cyst nematodes, we consult with the client and then perform variety determination for Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida using the PCR method. The analysis provides the basis for a targeted cultivation advice, including choice of cultivar. Of course, you can also submit your own samples to HLB. If desired, we can arrange a central pick-up point in your region.
